Going to Pangandaran

The cities in Indonesia are really too exhausting for me. After two nights spent in Yogyakarta we decided it was the time to leave again. In the lonely planet travel guide we found out that there should be a little village called Batu Karas, where the waves for surf-beginners should be just perfect. From Yogya we took a train to Banjar. A German couple we met recommended us to take the highest class, as in the lower ones foreigners usually get robbed.  It was quite expensive, there was a strong air condition and again a TV with popular Indonesian videoclips - Indonesian "posh way of traveling" :). We got of in the city Banjar and from here we took a bus to the city called Pangandaran. On the map it seemed to be quite close but the journey from Banjar to Pangandaran was just neverending (of course crazy driving, bad roads, awful traffic).
We arrived to Pangandaran after dark and after the whole day spent in various crazy kinds of transport I really did not feel like taking another bus to Batu Karas. So, we decided to spent one night in Pangandaran. We came to a hostel called "Pondok Wulan", which was quite cheap (100 000 Rupiah per room) , clean and really nice and as we found out the next day - really good breakfast. The people running the hostel proposed us to book a trip to Green canyon and give us a ride to Batu Karas afterwards so we booked the trip for the next day. The evening we just spent in a Bamboo bar having a beer.
